The Sabot Pass Trophy

Le Col du Sabot reaches an altitude of 1,865 metres in the Belledonne massif, above the Eau d’Olle valley, not far from Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne and the Sybelles ski resort. Its ascent from the valley floor villages, through the alpine pastures and rocky scree, makes it a challenging and exclusive destination, appreciated by cyclists and hikers who seek out lesser-known cols. It deserves a trophy to match.

From the course to the trophy

Each card is made in three stages, from raw data to the finished item.

• The topographic data of the Col du Sabot is processed to faithfully reconstruct the terrain's relief, contour line by contour line.
• The map is then 3D printed: the massif gains volume, the ridges stand out, the valleys deepen. The route of the ascent is raised on the surface to materialise the effort made.
• A solid oak base anchors the map. It is laser-engraved in our workshop in Bourg-d’Oisans with the distance, elevation gain, average gradient and the name of the pass.

The Col du Sabot in 3D relief

Col du Sabot rises in the Belledonne massif, on the edge of the Chartreuse Regional Natural Park. Ascending from the Eau d'Olle valley offers sustained gradients, a road that gradually steepens, and a panorama of the surrounding peaks that rewards every pedal stroke or step. The map recreates this terrain in the finest detail: the entrance to the valley, the climb towards the mountain pastures, the final passage to the col. Everything you’ve crossed, frozen in the relief.

The trophy for your climb

Le Col du Sabot is not a mainstream pass. To cross it, by bike or on foot, is to accept the effort, the isolation and the reward that comes with it. This 3D map is made to keep a tangible record of this personal achievement. It doesn't look like any photo, any GPS track displayed on a screen. It takes up space, it has weight, it can be touched. It's an object that tells the story of a difficult and successful day, to be placed on a desk, a shelf or a wall.

Each trophy is made to order in our workshop, at the foot of Alpe d’Huez, in Bourg-d’Oisans. You choose the size, the colour of the terrain and the route, as well as the shape of the base.
